Motivation

The Non Formal Environmental Education (NOFEE) project suggests the introduction and promotion of non formal techniques related with environmental education, through ways that will develop the creativity and entrepreneurship of the young participants. A process which will have a positive effect not only on participants themselves, but on the whole European community as it will promote the essential environmental consciousness, which will eventually lead to a higher quality of life and will contribute in the reduction of unemployment, especially the one of young people through the potential establishment of new "green" business activities. During an eight-day training workshop, youth workers, experts in environmental education, will try to interact with the participants and motivate them towards more innovative and eco-friendly ideas. Three trainers, experts in non formal and also to environmental education (Two from Cyprus and one from Poland) will attempt to develop and transfer ideas about non formal education related with environmental issues. Two persons from Cyprus will be responsible to support the training in the matter of the needs of the participants. The training will include three youth workers from each of the nine participating organizations (27 youth workers), who are environmentally concerned and work with young people either in their organizations or in their work and are willing to develop and learn new techniques about teaching with Non Formal Education (playing, acting, role playing and others) the environmental issues (caring about environment, protecting of the environment, renewable energy sources, biodiversity)

We are aiming in

(a) Introducing new methods of non formal education related with the environment to the youth workers of the partner institutions,

(b) Promoting the environmental awareness of young people,

(c) Developing the right for a healthy environment and lifestyle for all people in the world,

(d) Encouraging young people to engage in professions that have to deal with the environment, thus contributing to the problem of unemployment and

(e) Increasing entrepreneurship among young people.

In addition, participants will improve key competences, such communication and learning skills and will strengthen their bonds with European citizens from different regions or countries. One of our side goals, of a more social dimension aspect, is to eliminate discrimination and racism among young people. This will be achieved by the fact that participants will be of different social status and from ten EU countries.

The proposed approaches can be applied from school teachers, NGOs, groups of environmentalists or even from local or national authorities in order to enhance the environmental awareness of young scholars and our aim is to inspire similar actions from other European countries.

The training Non Formal Environmental Education has been approved and so It will take place in Cyprus from 6 to 13 of July in Cyprus.

Each organisation has to find three youth workers ages from 18 to …… (Preferable not more than 35 but this is something that organisations will decide). The training will last one week (7 nights, 8 days).
